I just purchased what the owner told me is a 1955
WD45 with a WD engine in it. Runs Great and the only known problems are she needs brakes, and the hydraulic lift cylinders are frozen up from setting out. I won't take delivery until Wednesday but I wondered if anyone can recommend where to buy new brakes or linings, and what might be involved in breaking the lift cylinders loose? I've read the archives regarding brake replacement. Thanks

You can get the brake lineings from Sandy Lake 724 376 2489. Soak those bottom pins with WD-40 or whatever for as long as you can before you try to remove them!!

I just had the same problem on my Wd45 the loader cyl wouldnt extend due to them being froze up... I sparayed a lot of wd40 around the cyl and then hit the lift again. on popped up but the other didnt,, I took a chain and chained the working one and then carefully worked the lift... no luck so then we used a pipe wrench on the end of the cyl where it hooks to the loader it took some oooph but it turned so I worked it back and forth that way for a while then with the other side chained I eased the lift again and it came free.,,, then with the 2 extended I used some emery cloth to clean them up,, been loading manure with it all day today and not a bit of a leak or a problem....JIm

make sure all linkages are free and not bent. A friend had one that wouldn't work. Linkage was out of adjustment. an owners manual and service manual will come in very handy.

Does she clatter badly when you try to lift or does nothing at all happen? Normally the cylinders are retracted (down) when not in use so I'm not sure how they could "freeze up". Sure, they can rust up if the hydraulic oil is full of water or the cylinders can rust up if they are left extended (up), but I'm going to guess that either the pump's unloading valve is broken and the poor thing can't lift a kitten (nothing at all happens) or its so full of mud it's unloading as soon as you put lift to her (clatters badly).
