I was at A tractor pull Sat. night and some guy came in with an old allis about the size of A super -c farmall. noticed A strange rumble when he fired it up and upon further investigation noted A v-8 chevy engine. He told us it was factory stock and was developed for pulling A irrigation pump. Does anyone have any info ,or know of A link where I could research this further. Thanks in advance, I knew if anyone knew it would be you guys.

There is a fellow around here with a wd-45 with a 348ci big block that he swears is factory. Only problem is Chevy did not make any 348ci motors or any thing like em before '58 and Allis did not make any 45's after '57. But heck I just aint got the heart to tell him. By the way you can tell 55-57 small block chevys by the spacing of the valve cover bolts

John I think a 3408 Cat in a WC would make a fine portable irrigation set up. Since AGCO has joined up with Cat it could conceivably, and this a long shot, be from the same company. I bet you could rack the throttle once and make funny twisted iron out of a WC's frame rails.

Had some cousins in Zanesville OH area who had a factory WD45 with a factory 454 chevy motor in it, they just werent both from the same factory, small detail, thats all..LOL They DID use it to run a silo blower untill the blower pipe clogged and they blew the pipe up and tore up the blower.

Tractor looks nice, but the WD45 decal is not factory original!

There's a guy by me who had a WC with a 327 Chevy under the hood but he never claimed it was original! It was fun watching him pull with it-almost dragged the sled into the next county!

As far as a factory irrigation pump set up like you decribed, I have never heard of it. The next time you are conversing with this gentelman, I would advise wearing hip boots because it sounds like he's piling it on mighty thick!

I thought I had heard everything, but an old tractor converted to portable irrigation power unit is a great class. What shall we call this one? 3250 XL

Well supposedly this tractor came out of the factory stock with this engine. He says he has the owners manual for it (dont know why he didnt bring it ) but anyway I thought the whole thing sounded kind of fishy. First thing if all you are going to do is pump water I am satisfied it would be A lot cheaper to just buy A power unit.
