HI Ted What type Of Carb? Boy the junk you can Pick up, I run two WD and about to put two more in the Field. First open drain in bottom of the Carb. You sould get a fair amount of gas and than a steady stream, not dripping but stream of gas.
If you are getting that, I would say your ok to the carb and float should be good enough to start it. If float is not working you'll get to little of gas ( Tractor will run ok for a few minutes and act up get starved for gas, shut off wait few minutes and start it will run ok until gas is used up) , if too much gas float stuck open or float is set wrong you get overflow after tractor is shut off, and you leave the gas on. Gas ok out of drain, I would open up the carb and clean it make sure that the jets are open, sounds like dirt in the carb to me stopping flow to the main jet, or flow pass the float valve. Make sure you have a sreen in your sediment bowl. If you think your Manifold is leaking try to sray some carb clean around the manifold , do this when it is cool not hot, be ready for a fire just to be safe. If it is leaking you should hear it in the way the enhgine is running , should miss or sound funny, if leaking. Not fun I'm having my troubles with dirty gas right now, got some type of old oil ( tar ) in a gas can and guess wear it is now , in the tank and fuel system of one of My tractors. Think about the gas and how it needs to go from gas cap to the manifold . Good luck !! Punchie
