A friend lent his 190 to a family member..... big mistake. In helping him to ready this tractor to move it home after sitting for at least two years [changing all filters, fluids, batteries....] we discovered water in the crank case. The story was that the tractor was running fine when it was parked two years ago. I don't buy it. Two of the frost plugs were out and laying on the floorboards. There was at least 2-1/2 gallons of water in the crankcase. After draining the crankcase and replacing the frost plugs, we poured water in the radiator to see if it ran into the block. Of course, it did. I'm hoping this is a sleeve problem, but expecting it to be a cracked block. I'm looking for prices and parts availability for either option. I'm looking for an engine block for this Allis Chalmers 190..... s/n 2610172U021675. I was told it is a 1964, but I'm thinking it's a 1967 model. The engine s/n is 190 2D 17067; Eng. Mod. D2800; Eng. Cat. 4020000. Any ball-park figures of what I can expect to pay for one would be greatly appreciated. Same deal on the sleeve kit.

Thanking you in advance,

Sorry I can't help you with the engine problem, I've got a WD and haven't worked on anything newer. When I saw your last name I had to reply though. Dad has a cousin Bob Soper in Bozeman, MT. Good luck on your engine, hopefully it is just sleeve seals.

Nice hearing from you Richard... as far as I know, our family is on the east coast. I'm originally from Amityville, Long Island. I moved to upstate NY about 30 years ago, but still have some family on the Island.

Thanks for the note!
