Wondering what the value of a B allis Chalmers is. It's runs good, has a Woods desk under it with hydrolics, clean, could be original paint, rear tires very good and, front tires weather cracked. Used for years as a lawn tractor. Didn't think to copy the SN so can't look up the age.

thanks,

Dwight

I paid 2200 for mine 5 years ago. I since have had to rebuild everything but the long block. When the painting is done I suspect I'll be able to sell it for 3000 without any trouble.

I paid $1200 ten tears ago for a 49 B with Sun Master belly finish mower in much the same sounding condition, put $900 into it over the next three years (brakes, rear axle bearings & shims, rebuild carb & generator, and a few other things that need attention after 40 or 50 years) and still consider myself to have done quite well. I live in Maryland, location has a lot to do with it.

The tractor by itself may sell for $800 to $1600 depending on location. The Woods mower will cost you $1200+ new (if it's an L59, more if it's an L306). I saw one sold with an L59 deck in worse shape (poor paint, good tires, needed a clutch and a radiator) for close to $2000 - but the Woods deck was only 3 years old and was probably worth around $1000 at the time.

If it was offered for $1500 or less in the condition you describe I'd jump on it. Between $1500 and $2000 I'd be interested depending on how it ran. Above $2000 I'd have to consider it hard .... may be worth it but I'd have to see it first.

You'll see some of these combos offered for $1000 to $1200, but they aren't real common at that price.

i agree with Bryan. $1500 is cheap, $2000 is o.k. if you look at it close.
