Wayne, Farmer Brown and Craig are giving good stuff. Working on a 45 myself at present. What part of Mississippi you in. I'm in the Hattiesburg area. Don't know any body else in here from MS. What about you. Dale

No. Just remove the bolts that hold the distributor drive/mounting assembly on. When you pull that assembly out to the rear the weights will be on it.

The trick to to make sure that you aren't off by a gear tooth or more when you go back together. The way I do it is to remove the distributor cap and make a mark where the rotor is pointing to. You need to be free of the spark plug wires anyway and this way you can't get the wires mixed up. As you pull it out the rotor will turn slightly because the drive gear for the governor is a helical gear. Pull it out slowly so the distributor doesn't take a spin. Then I make a second mark for the position the rotor has turned to. AFter replacing the weights, line the rotor to this second mark and then as you insert the assembly back into the housing, the rotor will turn slighly back to the first mark.
