I just noticed I am missing the small hydraulic cylinder on the right side of my newly acquired CA. Is there a reasonable to place to get these, also if the others need seals, can I do them or should it be left up to someone that knows what they are doing?

Thanks for the advice.

Mike

Mike, if you only have one cylinder you are right, you are missing one.

I replaced my o-rings in my hydralic cylinders having never done it before. Was very easy. I just looked in the phone book to find a place that sells the seals and o-rings matched them and replaced them. Don't know what kind of cylinder you are missing so can't really help their. Know Northern Hydralics does sell cylinders but not sure the one you need.

It depends on what you're aiming for. You may be able to get aftermarket cylinders, but if you are restoring you'll want to get the original (or reproduction of original) cylinder. They are available. Be careful of cylinders from sources like Northern, the Allis hydraulic pumps & cylinders generally are high pressure low volume operating, from what I understand. Today's generally available cylinders are mostly lower pressure high volume, I believe. Hydraulics aren't my bag of tricks, just what I've heard & read. I'll be finding out soon enough with my own restoration project.

This gentleman is right about your cylinders. If you need to replace one,I would check a salvage yard and see if they have one.The piston pumps AC used on thier older tractors could develop up to 3500 PSI and most new cylinders are not designed to handle that amount of pressure.

This is encouraging. I thought it might be a real technical kind of deal. Doing gas tank and electrical now, Hydraulics are next on my agenda. Thanks,
Mike
