Leaking oil pan gasket

I am not having any luck with the end seals on a WD oil pan. Has anyone used a large bead of silicone instead of the cork gasket? Perhaps there is a better way to seal it? Thanks

To install the cork gaskets use a yellow glue you can get at auto parts store . Its 3M 8001 adhesive. Put a small tin layer on pan and cork and let dry. Then put another coat on the cork and place cork on pan while wet put retaining tabs on to hold cork in place while it dries. Remove tabs and install pan as cork ends will not move when assembled this way.
