WD/WD45

I have a wd45 I am working on, but I have a chance at a WD cheap, will any of the parts interchange, like the head form the WD to the WD45? Both tractors are wide front with loaders, the WD needs rebuilt, the wristpin went and cut a groove in the sleeve. The WD45 just needed a head gasket, but the WD has a freshly rebuilt head, it was rebuilt but never put on.I paid 500 for the WD45 and I can get the WD for 300-400 but I need to know how many parts will interchange,,Thanks...Jim

If I decide to buy it I just want some parts, I will probably be inetersted in selling the WFE , I will keep you posted,, I found out today that I can use the WD head on the WD45 if I use the push rods from the WD,, so It may be a thought. otherwise I will just use my head I have,, I think it is ok,, just trying to save a lil money is all.....Jim

Watch out for the different height heads. I think you can interchange them if you change head studs. The taller head has larger intake and exhaust passages I am told so it should make more power, they are probably straighter too.

For that cheap I'd buy it to part out, or just resell. There are alot of parts that are the same, but the head depends on if its a tall head or a short head.

Kurt is right, odds are it won't interchange directly without swapping some other parts, but the price is right. There are enough parts that do interchange to make the WD worthwhile as a parts tractor. John

We bought the WD today,, got the WD with a WFE and a loader. a snowplow and bucket for the loader, a 2 bottom snap coupler plow, a manure spreader and a governor and its housing for a Farmall H, my H has a good one on it, but I can always use a spare. The WD head is rebuilt and there is a complete gasket set too. I am going to go ahead and try the WD45 head as it is after some clean up and a lil valve grinding compound.I think I may resurrect the WD next year, I already have the WD45 and the AC B to finish now.... all the B needs is a rear rim though....Jim
