You two guys have given me some good advice about my B now I have a good question. When the motor is at its operating temp 150 and when you have used it for awile( Harrowed 3 acears ) when I shut down to say change my harrows to my planter and it off for maybe 5 minutes.I have to back the throttle all the way down to almost nothing or it will not start. it does it if I leave the gas valve on or off and the choke is off. Any comments will be appreciated. Mark

i think the guys are right, too much fuel. high float or sticking shut off needle valve sounds like a good bet. when its off it doesnt drip fuel does it? if not, then the valve dont stick. when it starts back up do you see black puff of smoke? if so, then you have too much fuel.

I do see a puff of fuel when I start it while the engine is hot. How come I don't have a problem with it when it is cold. The float should be set at 1/4 inch I think if not please advise. I will check it monday and let you know. Thanks Mark

If the carb bowl is loading up during shutdown then even with the gas all the way back the engine shjould have to turn over more than usual to start to dump some fuel. Vapor lock would prevent starting until sufficient time passed to clear it, I believe. Not that I'm an expert, just thinking about how my B starts when flooded.

Hmmm.....not being the "fuel expert" I can't say anything about vapor lock. I always let mine idle for a minute or so before shutting it off - got into the habit with our first turbo tractor and found it does nice things for the regular tractors, too.

Sounds like it might be flooding for some reason, but if you shutoff the fuel valve that *should* stop the flooding. You're plowing with no fuel starvation so there's no restricted fuel flow that would prevent the bowl from filling up until you shut it off. It does sound like the bowl is filling up with too much gas - kinda like the float is too high. That's my first guess, anyway.

Mine all start right back up (I usually have the throttle set about notch 4 or maybe as high as notch 6 to start it, but never at notch 1 or 2). I'm puzzled.....
