I know you guys are tired of hearing this question, but I know absolutly nothing when it comes to Allis tractors. Looking at a ca, do not know the year but it has fresh paint, good tires, narrow front, and runs very well. The asking price is $1950.00. Also has an after market 3pt hitch. THis is going to be just a machine for my son and grandaughter (3 weeks old) to use. Maybe cut grass and that is about it. I live in the Memphis, TN area. Is this a fair price? Also, are wide fornt ends availalbe for this machine? If, so how difficult is it to change?
Thanks much in advance for all of your thoughts!!!

Yes it is definetly worth it. I would recomend finding a wide front off of a c allis in a junkyard and putting on it. I was at an auction that one in fair condition (bad paint was it) sold for 2100! I can help answer alot of questions about ca's i have owned 1 and drove 3 others.

the deal on the c.a sounds ok for memphis, but 100 miles out of town it would be 500.00 less, the ca is a good tractor but the narrow front is easier to turn over on hillsides, in ditches or holes, be carefull if this is a first tractor, they do good work but just don't get wild hope this helps Gordon-(TN)

Without having seen it, I don't know that I would pay any more than that. Machines of that size are very popular for mowing here. If it had a mower, however, I wouldn't hesitate to pay that for it.

My experience is a running CA is worth 900-1200 dollars. From there add for tires, paint, completeness, meaning lights, breather, things that cost to replace, how straight is the metal and having the three point already is a 300-500 dollar plus. hand clutch if it's working, and as you have guessed the wide front tractors are more popular and bring a little more. Changing them isn't a problem, it's just four nuts holds it to the front of the engine and fooling with taking the radiator and sheetmetal off the nose. A nice wide front could run you 375-600 depending on who has it. If the one you are looking at is nice I'd say it's not too low or too high but about fair market value.
