If the engine has a plate on the whole right side of it it is a WD or WC engine. If the shift lever is curved it is a constant mesh transmission, used on late WDs and WD45s. An oul line to the governor is a 45. A curved seat mounting bar with an adjustable shock mount is also 45 while a straight one with a sharp bend near the seat and a non adjustable shock position is WD.

Sorry John. With that first set of numbers (208663) thought you had a WD45 there. Looking in my data book under WD45, 1955 serial numbers start with 190993. The numbers for 1956 start with 217992. 208663 would be in the middle.... I forgot the serial number for the WD series is on the rear not in front of the gear shift like a B or C. Sorry, my mistake. With the real serial number that would put it like Brian says, 1953 WD. I'm still learning myself.... Steve

John, The WD prefix indicates it is a WD engine. However, I have been compiling a list of "Engine" versus "Tractor" serial numbers and I have yet to see a WD engine number above WD360462PA which appears to be a 1953, the last year WDs were built. Could that first digit be a 3 instead of a five? Anyhow.....,I would appreciate your posting the "Tractor" serial number as well. The "Tractor" serial number will define the year of manufacture. Thanks, Brian G.

1953WD S/n starts at 131273,1953WD-45 starts at 146607, sooo s/n 133577 would be a 1953 WD.All the same as a WD-45 BUT the WD has a 4in stroke and a 4in bore,the WD-45 has a 4.5 stroke and a 4 bore (standard.)

John,
According to my data book, looks like you have yourself a WD45, around 1955 vintage there. WD45's were in production between 1953-57. Hope this helps ya out... Steve

How did you come up with 1955 from the numbers and locations he gave? Neither of them are the tractor serial number.

Click on the link and it will show you where to find the tractor serial number. Then look over to the left under research and info and the serial number page will tell you what you have.
