Can anbody tell me what the ohms of resistance there are in the primary ignition system of a D15 Series II (1963)?

The shop manuals on 60's cars with point ignition systems say the primary circuit (coil, resistor, points) should draw approximately 3 amps with the engine off and ignition switch turned on. That will optimize point life. The same theory has worked well on the tractors I have converted from 6V to 12V. Just another way to approach it.

Not off-hand, but I do know the coil has an internal resistor for that tractor. The info at Genesee Products suggests that any set-up converting 6 volts to 12 volts should have a coil-and-ballast-resistor combination of arounf 3.0 to 3.3 ohms. Not sure if the D15 coil/resisto combo is in this range, though.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken by Harold alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that the major was produced late 19
