CA governor parts source and advise

I used my '52 CA this weekend to mow and the governor just can't be working. The ignition timing is right on, points and plugs are gapped right, carburator float level is perfect and you can't set the highspeed mixture on this zenith carb...it's not adjustable. I havn't done a compression test yet...i'd say the compression may be down some but it runs good. anyway, when you go up a hill or get in tall grass, it just bogs down more and more. if you reach up and move the throttle lever by hand, then the engine will speed up some. the linkage going from governor to carb is free and very little play. i read on this website that the governor weights and pins may be worn. am i on the right track with this idea and where is the cheapest place to buy new weights and pins? Thanks in advance.

Did you just get the tractor? What has been changed to not make the governor work??? The rod going to the carb has to be set right.With the brakes locked up put it in a high gear and let out on the clutch real easy to see if the governor arm is moving at all. Start there and post back.Seamo

thanks for your response. i've had the tractor for only two years and i don't think the governor has ever worked. the linkage is set up correctly...i'm pretty sure because it is identical to our B. I'll try your idea of putting it in high gear and i'll let youknow if the arm moves. thanks, Kent
