The early F2's with 6 cyl. diesels were 2800 as well as were the M and L series. The F2 was none turbo but the others were. The M's and L's also had optional 426 motors.

Could you be thinking of another Gleaner combine? I have a 1979 F2 diesel- it is a 96 hp four-cylinder diesel with turbocharger.

The first F2's had 6 cyl. motors they stopped using it around 39,000 ser. number. F2's with 6 cyl. were short walker and no power fold auger and short cleaning shoe. My F2 is ser. number 36,500 they say it was the first off assembly line but I think the F2 really started at 36,200 but who cares. The 301 block is also used in 180 185 190's 200 7000 7010 7020 and 8010 if other sources of motors are needed.

The 945 wheel loader was built in the 1970-1980 era. It had the Allis 844 cubic inch diesel straight 6 motor that was common at that time. In the 945 it was turbocharged and aftercooled. The same basic engine was used in the 21B and later the 21C bulldozers. The 21c was not aftercooled. The dozers had 325 HP, while the loader probably had 350 HP. The basic motor was also used in some of the large motor scrapers of the time. I dont remember exactly, but it was probably in the 260 or 262 scraper line. I dont know about the Gleaner, sounds like a big motor for a combine, but maybe. You might get more info or a lead on an engine at www.ibdozing.com. I can tell you onething, at the end of the Allis construction machinery era, there was a KIT to install a Cummins 855 straight siz in the 21C and i believe it also would fit the 945 loader. That was one nice engine. Many of the dealers carried them, they still might.
