I have a crack in the bottom of the WD45 block between sleeves 3and4. Thinking about using JB Weld over it and putting it back together. Has anyone been successful using block sealer after assembly. If there is a block for sale out there, I'm sure I'd be better off.

I have a '50 ACWD and had a pretty bad water leak into the oil pan. I replaced the "o" rings and put a bottle of "MOROSO CERAMIC BLOCK SEALER" This is the stuff used by NASCAR and a lot of local dirt trackers here in SC. Sure did the trick for me. Most speed shops or racing suppliers could get it for you.

Don't do it! I had the same situation with my 45 engine. There are people that will weld those type of cracks but they won't garrentee them. The people that I have talked to about that said that it will only run for a little while and then fail. So if I were you, I would start looking for another engine. It will be cheeper in the long run.

Mike,

George is right on that one! I work in a heavy equipment & truck shop and we've fixed large cracks in diesel blocks with great success using the JB Weld. As George explained, preparation is super important, but the stuff works great! Steve

Several years ago, a crack occurred in the block of my WD45 due to freezing. It was about 2 inches long and the location was close to the water drain cock that is on the side of the block. I successfully used JBweld to repair the crack. I used a grinder to bevel the crack a little as well as buff up the area around the crack. It was kind of tedious work because I was doing this in place and I had to keep working the JB weld putty to keep in place because it would keep sagging until it set up. I put about three layers of JB weld on. It is still in place and is holding up well. Yes this can be a successful repair. I know of others who have used JB weld for this. It is worth a try before you go buy another block.

Good Luck.
