Hi all. I recently purchased a B model and I am in process of installing a 3 point hitch from C & D. One of the brackets mounts to the axle housing and I drained the gear box, (tranny and differential). What weight fluid is recommended for replacement? Where do I check and fill the hydraulic fluid? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

the transmission, differential and PTO hydraulics are all common. there aae three plugs under the tractor (1/2 inch pipe) to get everything drained. refill with trans-hydraulic fluid, you can buy at farm store or walmart. buy at 2.5 gallon jug, you will have a little left. Refill on the left side by your foot, in the 1 inch pipe plug. This is a 20 wt oil, but has extra additives for anti foaming and antiwater so it is better than engine oil. as long as you are at it, do what Tom said and remove the pans on the bottom of each final drive and change the 90 wt gear lube in them.

You put 90 weight gear oil in there unless you have hydraulics, then use "tractor lube" an oll purpose gear/hydraulic/powersteering lube. The fill plug is on the left side of the transmission, put in enough to bring it up to the bottom of the fill plug hole. Don't for get to remove the final drive pans/covers from the bottom of each final drive and put new oil (90 weight) in each one. You can nearly fill the pan before you put it back on, or fill it from the filler plug in each pan after they are back on. Fill to the bottom of the plug hole. Many people never change final drives and there may be some old nasty oil in them, worth doing, then you will know.
