I have had a 51WD for about 12 yrs now. When I got it was very "weak". I rebuilt it with a 1/8 in overbore engine kit...pistons and sleeves that are 4&1/8 in. instead of the stock 4in. The compression was also raised from 5.5 to 6.5 with the addition of this engine kit. I would guess that it now has every bit of 40HP. And a lot cheaper than the "buy wd45parts route". Also if you sub any 45 parts be very careful about the combination of WD and WD45 engine parts. It is possible to put together an AC engine that won't turn over because the valves are hitting the pistons. If you think you "need" that much more power trade your complete WD engine for a complete WD45 engine and rebuild that.
