I think it would be really beneficial if someone set up a knowledge database of drawings pics and info by make and model on this site, it seems all the same questions are just rotating on a daily basis.

what does everyone else think?

On one hand it's a good idea. But I also agree with the guy who said you'd be losing something. Sometimes you glean a little wisdom from the stories you read. Maybe even avoid some of the pitfalls. It's sort of like hunting stories. Their all the same, but every once in a while you learn something new.

Great idea Craig...I think it's a little too much to ask of Kim to provide this a part of the site though. (As you probably know she does a lot just by providing us this free forum...hence the little bit of flack you recieved. But in your defense you did say "someone".)

Such a thing would be very benificial but also very time consuming for the "someone" providing the service. A labor of love it would have to be. I can imagine the time spent by Bryan Smith on his excellent web site...I'm sure all that have been helped thru this site are very grateful...I know I am and THANK YOU BRYAN!

Perhaps you have the time Craig?

Steve

One thing nice about these boards is a person only has to open what he wants to look at. The way I see it, if a fellow is getting bored with the boards he ought to shut the 'puter down, go out and drive the old tractor around a bit or take the wife out to dinner. Then come back here when he has the same attitude he had when he first found this site, in my case it was; "Wow! what a wealth of information". Even your gripe and idea is not new Craig. Been looken at Kim's boards for several years and seen it posted on most of the boards several times. Maybe we could use a data base of board gripes for people to search through before they post too?

I thought it would help, I think you took my suggestion as a gripe or complaint, it was only an Idea to help organize the vast amount of information and knowledge.

something like this,,,,,was my Idea

Wd-45
Values
Engine rebuilding
Transmission
Brakes
Etc.
Etc. Etc.

and the same format for other models..... ..

that way someone could reference other situations and advice..... ..... ..... .....and take from it what they need, not everyone has the same skill levels as others.

Just an Idea..... .sorry It offended you.

Good Day to each you. Craig, that is a good idea. Perhaps what Butch has suggested will caution my future the most. After a GREAT new friend showed me this Site, I have spent more time at the computer finding and printing a BOOK of information, than wrenching on the Model C we purchased. If this site had the format you mentioned, in the event of having something apart, wanting some info fast, that would be fine for me. The most useful pictures, diagrams and ideas I find, are when looking at posted information of one subject or repair, only to find the link provided by this most generious person, shows me what I need for ten other things yet to be done!! Any major changes to this site may be good, but might be simular to cutting a hole in the hood of a tractor for a modification, you will never have what the original value was before that change!! With that said, Thank You all for what is shared to educate and shine some light in the direction of us blind and inexperienced soles! PLEASE DON'T STOP SEND MORE

"seems like all the same questions..." sure sounded like a gripe to me, but enough of that, what you are suggesting has allready been done for us with the archives here and at other sites like the one Steve talked about. I am only saying that if a person was to ake away all the redundant questions here then this board would be pretty lightly used, I enyoy it as is.

No offence taken, have a nice day, Butch
