I am 12 years old and I recently bought a Allis Chalmers refrigerator for a $1.00. It is a model CR10A serial # is 002252,115 volts HZ 60 and Has 2 ampress. Has anyone else seen or own a Allis Chalmers refrigerator? This one is in Fair shape but the motor on it needs work. Any manuals of reaplys would be greatly helpful.

I'm not familiar with those refigerators, but if is a fan motor or if the compressor is belt driven you should be able to fix or replace it.

I work on refrigerators and appliances , and if it is the old ammonia type refrig you are better off trashing it or calling a repairman and seeing about retro-fitting it with a newer compressor. I have seen this done and it woirks nice and yu still have the old AC fridge, it just isnt worth as much.....

Hey Jim correct me if im wrong but if it is an ammonia type it should be a gas refrigerator and not have a compressor in it.The old ammonia ones ran off of LP gas.Not many around,Terry.

Some of the old refrigerators with the top mounted compressors were ammonia based. but yes most Ammonia units are gas. some campers and motor homes up until a few years back still had Ammonia units, and when they sit the ammonia sticks so you just take them out and turn them upside down. or put them in the back of your truck and find a bumpy road to drive up and down,,,,Jim
