I figured out that I have a allis chalmers M. I do have a couple of questions. It does not have a starter on it but it does have a shaft for a hand crank. Does anybody know if they make a conversion kit for a electric start? Also were these crawlers run by a magnito?

If you need a starter you might want to keep a watch on ebay. There was one a while back on their sight. As was mentioned before there is a special tapered bolt holding the starter in. Try to find this if you can.If you have a lathe you can make one. I think the bolt is a 5/8-11. Make sure the bolt is long enough for a lock nut.

Brian,
According to my data book, there were three different types of Magneto's used for the M. The Eisemann GL-4, the Bendix C-4 & the Fairbanks/Morse FMK4B. Also it said a 6 volt Auto-lite MAB-046 starter w/lights was optional equipment on the M. Hope this helps. Steve
