After sitting all winter, the clutch is stuck in the engaged position. The clutch disc, not the pedal. How can I get it loose? This is a 1938 B. Thanks

Mine got stuck that way a couple of years ago, I got my neighbor to pull it with his tractor while I held the clutch pedal down and hit the brakes & let the clutch in & out. It came loose in about 25 feet. Hasn't got stuck since.

Fred, this is not uncommon on a 50 year old B. the rear seal is drip lubed with oil. over the years the oi lgets on the clutch and it can "lockup" when set for several weeks. Do as Phil said and see if it works. Driving around the driveway and stomping the brakes, or backing up aginst a tree or block wall can also work. When you get it free, pull the starter off and shoot the flywheel and cluthc with dishwashing soap. if you have a small pressure washer, spray it inside and soak it good, spray up the 3 inch hole in the bottom below the clutch also. make sure the bottom hole is clear of all crud so the oil can get out when needed. Wash it good and you will not have it stick for another 10 years.

Fred,
Get it started and drive it around with the clutch pedal depressed then stomp or yank the brakes, depending on wether you have foot or hand actuated brakes. It may take several tries, but this should do it. Another method is to hook up a plow and start working the snot out of it. Usually one of these methods will free it up. Next time you store it, use something to hold the clutch pedal down so it won't stick again.

Phil
