Has any one out there tried to weld new 24" rims to a spoked wheel on an unstyled WC? I have this incurable notion that I can fix anything if I keep trying hard enough. Any similar experience will undoubtably eliminate some of the pain.

Chris, One problem I see is the rims for the round spokes have a much deeper drop in the center than any modern replacement rim will have so you would have to add to the spokes to reach the new rim. I believe that new rims are around $100 per each. A decent pair of round spokes should be $200-$350 depending on how decent and who has them. If it was me I would do a little searching for a set of bargin originals first. If it trips your trigger to save the old wheels from the scrap guy, fix them. I do things like that myself.

They're flat spoke. I'll come up with something by the time I fix up both the WC's I just bought. Of the 2 complete tractors and one skeleton, there's one good rim. And it ain't original. Like I said, It's an affliction.

We had a WC with flat spoke that had been cut off and put on rims. Who ever welded the spoke to rims did not do a good job. The wheels wobled and wore out the wheel bearing every so often.

If they are factory round spokes, I would try to cut the old rim to where you don't disturb the factory rounds. They don't look as good welded to the rim.

They're flat spoke. Should be aesy to add to if needed. I like your idea though. If I salvage the area where they attach it would be a lot easier to allign.
