How can I run a hydraulic log splitter 3pt on my D-14. It has one pressure line at the rear of the tractor, looks like gear lube comes out of it at low psi. The log splitter has two quick-coupler hoses and an open center valve. Thanks.

your tractor hose will be the supply to the log splitter vavle, the return hose from the splittler back to the tractor is missing. you need to install a hose into the drain plug of the transmission/ differential and let the oil go back into it. this is your "oil tank". now you put your hydraulic lever in the engage position, and use the log splitter valve to run your splitter. your three point cylinder need to be "pinned down" or have a shut off valve so you are not trying to "raise " it all the time.

What Steve said will work but there is one thing you should check out first. I know the older Allis tractors like the WD and WD45 have low volume high pressure hydraulic pumps. Steve can probably tell you if this is the case with the D series or not. [I'm not sure but I think the D-14 is high pressure also] If it's high pressure low volume, unless you have an Allis hydraulic cylinder on the wood splitter, it will work extremely slow as it takes so long for a low volume pump to fill up a larger diameter cylinder. I tried this with a WD and what I ended up doing was mount a pto pump off of a Farmhand loader, and a small hydraulic tank on the wood splitter. This works very good. Plenty of power and fast.
