I went and picked it up tonight.The numbers on the engine read u3018-28.The 28 could be a 20,but anyway you can fill oil by the mag so i assume it is the bigger engine.The engine is stuck for it has sat outside for a very long time.It had a superior loader on it which i took off.I guess i would like to know if its worth restoring like this or if i should just forget about it.I guess i really dont know what these tractors are worth.Thanks again,Terry.

So what tractor is it?? If it is a WC, WD, 45, it will have a tractor no. stamped on the rear end housing. On WCs it is in the center near the big "freeze plug", if it is a WD, or 45 it will be near the left lift arm bracket, brake spring, brake adjuster bolt, rear end cover, on the back left side of the rear end. WD engines and WC engines had a bolted on cover plate on the left side of the engine, about 8" x 20". 45 didn't have that, but they have a small oil line running to the governor. WCs have a long shift lever, WDs and 45 have a short one. All 45 have a curved lever and early WDs have the straight lever, later ones had the curved lever.

It is an 1939 rc.I beleive it has the wrong engine in it though.Its suppose to have the b engine but it has the bigger engine.Ill do some more checking tomorrow on it.I know it has the oil line going to the governor but im not sure of the side plate.I will check tomorrow and let you know.Thanks ,Terry.

We just got a 1939 RC, not running, not stuck, bad rear tires and rims, with pretty good sheet metal (including fenders) except for bad gas tank, for $600; got it running with very little trouble. Bought another 1939 RC a few years ago, stuck motor, needed tires, sheet metal fair except fenders pretty bunged up, for $750; put another motor in it and have used it happily for antique pulling and hayfield work ever since. You can sink a lot of $$$ into cosmetic restorations but if your goal is a working tractor and not a beauty queen, it can be affordable, even if you have to replace the engine, as I have seen good B blocks for $175 (don't give up on the motor in it; sometimes you can get them unstuck). Or, you can do a mechanical restoration and resell it to someone who is willing to put the time and bucks into the cosmetic crap. I have a neighbor who could be interested in the RC if you won't want to fool with it; his email is [email protected] and is located in Maryland.
