What B engine oil pump parts are usually worn?

When I put in a clutch in my B in a few weeks I want to check over the engine oil pump. I know to re-surface the cover (part #2 in the diagram) to help with oil pressure. I'll also have a gasket (part #3) on hand. Any other parts I should have on hand when I do this? I'd hate to break the tractor in two and have to wait on a spring to put it back together...!

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

When you get it apart, check the pin in the back of the cam that drives the oil pump (fits into the slot near arrow 5 in your drawing). My 'C' pin was very nearly sheared off, and the holes in the cam were egg-shaped. I drilled it bigger and put in a larger hardened pin. You'll probably have to remove the cam to replace the pin, I'm not sure.

good luck,
mark

Bryan, Open up the pump and check it out. If you run into a problem you can send it to me and I will repair it and send it back. All it will coast would be the postage and parts. You will be able to do it your self I am sure, But I will do this if you run into a problem. Not to worry!

cover, vanes, springs, and the ball all seem to be the most used. had mine apart and dressed the cover only. it was the only thing bad, and my tractor sat outside it's whole life till it come to me.
if you need parts in a hurry check with sandy lake imp. they ship quickly and have most parts in stock

Thanks for the kind advice (and for the offer, Dick!). I appreciate the insights - just don't want to have it torn apart in my buddy's shop for a week or two waiting on parts.
