Does a WD45 have cream color wheels or orange wheels with silver rims? What is the best paint to use? AGCO corporate orange, or get it from some paint store such as TSC ,Arnolds, Fleet Farm or such? Thanks Harold

Harold,

Steve is right, you get what you pay for. I used Dupont "Dulux" Persian Orange on my B. I paid around $130. for the gallon, plus I picked up the hardener to add to it. Total cost was around $175. by the time I was done, but she looks beautiful, and that paint is pretty tough! It has that "pumpkin orange" color to it like OEM. It even stayed on without any chipping on the re-assembly end of the project, which I thought for sure that I was going to have to do some "touch-up" by the time I was done. PPG paints are also a good choice, but again not cheap! I guess it's just whether you want longevity and the right "look" or just to keep the rust off....

I agree with John. I have used TSC paint on implements and it fades in a short time if the equipment is stored outdoors. Automotive paint is more expensive, but will provide better service. If I had a nice WD-45, I'd spring for automotive grade enamel. My $0.02

I have a friend who restores Farmalls and uses OEM paint. He is happy with it.

James, The AGCO dealer has corporate orange for under $50.00 a gallon and Auto Value wants about $160.00 a gallon for Dupont. I just wonder why the big difference!! Thanks , Harold

you basically get what you pay for. If you buy a gallon of enamel at Wal Mart for $25. it will cover the tractor and keep off the rust. In a year it will fade and look chalky. If you get $40. gallon at Farm Store, TCS, etc it is a little better and has some shine. Most if this paint will still be attacked if you spill gasoline on it. YOu can buy automotive paint for $100- $150 a gallon. It will shine and have a deep gloss. You can add haardener to make ti even more shinny and tough. Look at your car paint and compare it to your lawn mower after 7 years. Get the idea? A good automotive paint can be purchased for $100. this is a good enamel. $100 more will get you some reducer and hardener. You can spend $200 for the paint and get emron, epoxy, etc, buy you dont need that quality or $$$. A good "base quality" automotive enamel is worth while. Stick with Dupont Delstar, or PPG type paints. Talk to you automotive body shop. They probably have 2 or 3 versions and each is a little more expensive.

Harold the wheels are orange and the rims galvanized but most guys use aluminum paint. What paint you use depends on your purpose. I have used Farm & Fleet orange which is corporate with good success and it is cheap. If you want the A1 paint job buy automotive paint. John
