the paint you get at the farm store that says Allis Challmers Orange, is normally for tractors built in tht 1970 era. The original Pursian Orange no 1 from the 1940s B was a pumpkin color. You can get it at car auto body paint shops if you are going for the exact color. The rear rims are aluminum color, the hubs are orange. Usually the starter, generator and radiator were orange, but most people like to paint these black to give the tractor a little variation in color.

Hi Rick,

There is a lot of info on the B right on this site. Check out the on-line book at the following link.

Once you get the serial number at the location Don mentioned, click on "serial numbers" on the left on this page and follow the path to get your year of manufacture.

Paint can be a lenghthy subject and it depends on how much you want to pay and how badly you want to duplicate the exact original shade of orange.

For now,
Rod

the serial # should be right above the gear shifter, should start with B and then numbers. The best advice on history of B's and other AC's is to buy a book, you can buy a very good book with pics and info for about $40. As far as paint it is all up to you unless you are going for the exact original. I do have some parts off a parts tractor if you need them. Good Luck!!! Don

I bought the "Original Allis Chalmers" book, has a lot of details + serial #'s etc.....

I am very happy with it. Also I&T shop manual is invaluable. Original or Reprint "B" manuals are almost always on ebay....

Good luck!
