Can anyone give me an idea where to find model number on a WD 45. I have looked on the back under the left brake adjusted and on the sides, also by the brake covers. Have not been able to find it anywhere I have heard that it should be. I have not seen any grind marks that show it was ground off. I think it a 56 model but not sure how to tell if it is. Thanks

Check out my serial number images at my website (listed below). It has a picture of a WD45 with the serial number location indicated by masking tape. That should help.

A couple - first, scrapre the area good where the image shows the serial number. Many of them were stamped in *very* lightly. If that doesn't work, look up and to the left below the left brake cover. I *think* I have seen one stamped there before for some reason. It will still be on the vertical surface if there. After that I have no idea .... unless you have a WD rear end for some reason, then check out the note about early WD serial numbers on the page.

Found them in the right place. I was looking for raised lettering not stamped. Scraped off the paint and bingo there they were. Thanks for your help Mike
