Big Don,

I've been reproducing new replacement wire harnesses for the B,C, Model tractors with the 6V system. Right now I'm in the process of putting together a 12V conversion with all the poop you need. Should be done in a couple of weeks if your not sure of what to get for parts. The kit will also come with a new bracket to mount the 10SI alternator to the B's engine block which I plan on designing to work with the stock adjuster arm on top in order to make it a snap installing. Just in case you were interested....

Don, the most common alternator to use is the Delco 10SI. Go to Auto Zone and tell them you want the standard alternator for a 1976 chevy pickup. You will get a 40 amp alternator with an internal voltage regulator for $35. There is a 1/4 inch lug on the back for battery connection. There are two spade terminals on the side to run the regulator. Make sure the two spades are in line, not side by side. In line means it is for a 1975-1985 GM vehicle and has an internal regulator. You will need a resistor or small light bulb in the circuit to drop voltage slightly and make it charge. Installation is pretty simple, just follow Dueys pictures. If you do buy it, get it mounted and we can explain more about the wiring.
