I just purchased an early B, it needs the valves adj, and the timing set. I dont have a book on this tractor so if someone can e mail me tune up data it would be great. I have rebuilt several tractors and work as a mechanic, so I understand the tech. talk no need to explain the simple stuff. Please e mail any info to stk.12240@loki.stockton.edu or sharke@bellatlantic.net
I GREATLY APPRECIATE IT
Obvioulsy I'm intrested in firing order, mag timing (is there a pointer on the crank pulley?) valve lash, plug gap and type, etc.

your model B timing scale is located on the side
of the flywheel and is viewed through an access
hole in the side of bellhousing.i can't remember
which side and am too lazy to look, but i think
its the right side.at least it is on mine, the latter added to prevent purist flak good luck

Harold,
The information you provided is great. Is the transmission oil just plain 90 wt gear oil?
Also, can you describe the oil filter system on a B? The B I have has a filter with the threaded portion facing down and some plumbing parts that connect to an oil pressure guage. To get the filter and pressure guage assembly to draw oil, you have to prime it after the engine is running. It does not look like original equipment. What is it supposed to look like?

Today's Featured Article - Timing Your Magneto Ignition Tractor - by Chris Pratt. If you have done major engine work or restored your tractor, chances are you removed the magneto and spark plug wires and eventually reached the point where you had to put it all back together and make it run. On our first cosmetic restoration, not having a manual, we carefully marked the wires, taped the magneto in the position it came off, and were careful not to turn the engine over while we had these components off. We thought we could get by with this since the engine ran perfectly and would not need any internal work. After the cleanup and painting was done, we began reassembly and finally came to t ...
