WD with Power Crater Problem

I've got a dilemma. And I need some expert advice. Had a WD with a bad rod bearing, when the bearing went, it let the the piston do some minor scratching of the sleeve wall. The piston also cracked. We decided to put power crater pistons from a WD-45 and also the matching sleeves. Everything went well, but now the tractor sounds terrible if it even runs at all. I was searching the archives and couldn't find any definite answer, but, would the 4" stroke of the WD compared to the 4.5" stroke of the WD-45 make the tractor run so poorly?? We didn't change the crank, it is still the stock WD crank. Some of the information in the archives said that a tractor would run poorly with this setup, some posts said that it would run fine. I'm looking for a definite answer to this problem. Maybe some of you have experience in this field. Another question, would a WD-45 crankshaft fit into the WD block? They are different castings, but would it be possible?? I've been told that it is possible with minor or no changes.

If you run a compression test you will find the compression is low maybe 80 pounds. You need to get the compression up to about 100 or more for it to run right. If you install the flat top WD pistons that will fix it. Or you can install the 45 crank in the WD block (which will work) then you will have a WD45 horsepower WD. Now you have to choose installing the crank or installing the pistons. Good luck.
