after removing the crankshaft from my engine,
i did not see any oil holes between the mains
and rod bearings. are the rods oiled from the mains, or by the dip method? if no oil galleys
are in the crank, has anyone had one drilled, and would the oil pump handle the added
load
thank you

They work purtty good the way Allis Chalmers meant them to work. If you have the crank out you will be able to see where the oil comes through the cam bearings to the main bearings. You can also look at your rods and see on both sides of the rods that there is holes on both sides that are shaped like little funnels. Now look at your cam shaft and you will see small holes in the cam that line up with the rods. When the engine in running and the pump is pumping oil pressure, oil sprays on the rods at the same time it is pumping oil to the mains. The rods turning causes those little funnels to act as little oil pumps and cause the oil sprayed on the rods to be pumped to the rod bearings. Simple and has served those little Allis engines well for many years. If you rebuild it properly and take care of it afterwords, and are not going to spend 10 hours a day on the tractor farming with it as is was intended when designed, The tractor will out last you as they have many people that bought them new.
