Looking for a 1949 parts Allis Chalmers CA or a carb and 2 break drums for that model. My Father-in-Law is rebuilding and is having a bad time finding these. Any help, please e-mail.

Best check for sure about '49 CA. There were only 14 made starting in 1950. Perhaps you have a "C". Check serial numbers on this site in left-hand column (blue lists) or perhaps a "C" owner can help you.

Easy to decide between a C and CA - the CA will have 4 gears plus reverse and a hand clutch on the right side of the operator's platform. The C will have 3 gears plus reverse and no hand clutch.

Zenith (who now I think has rights to Zenith and Marvel Schebler carbureators) probably has a new replacement for the original carb listed on their website (listed below). If he has to have an original try Wenger's (an AC salvage yard) or Roger Van Camp (in Indiana) - they will probably have it.

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga ...
