The lower final drive casting has a plug. Opposite the wheel side, the upper casting has two holes at the hieght of the stub axle. One looks like it has a twisted off or cut off bolt or plug. The other one is an open hole. Each side of the tractor is the same. My books don't show these holes. Should they be open? Is it threaded for a bolt or pipe plug? Thanks in advance for your thinking.

Could you be referring to the holes used to mount the bracket for a mounted corn picker?

They are for attachments.

The holes you descibed on the final drives are for attachments. Someone else can probably give you details on what attachments. Laurel.

Dave, im not sure i know where we are looking. The final drive housing has a couple threaded holes in the lower area between the wheels where the drawbar could bolt on (below the differential looking left and right?). Also at the top area of the housing you see the brake rod going into the brake band area. This is on the axle shaft to the final drive. The brake bands are supported by a couple pins, maybe 1/2 inch diameter, that push into "holes" from the side. Is this the areas we are talking about, or am i just rambling.
