Do they have live PTO and hydraulics? Do they have a hand clutch like the CA? I am not very familiar with them.

I have a '52' WD. They do have live power and a hand clutch. It is nice to have if you are using a mower or any pto powered implement that you need to ease into a heavy spot. The WD=45 also has what is known as "Traction Booster" that is dealing with the drawbar using hydraulics to lessen the load when pulling a plow or a disk in tough ground. Your owners manual is helpful in the use and adjustments. Good luck and have fun working it.

The live power is "live" in the sense that a CA has live power. You can use the hand clutch to stop and change gears, but if you push in the foot clutch the pto stops. Not a problem, just takes some getting used to.

The hand clutch is different than the CA's. On the CA you have to hold it back, while on the WD and WD45 it "snaps" into a detent when engaged and also "snaps" into another one when disengaged. This helps your arm muscles quite a bit ...! It is a true hand clutch (unlike the CA's "disconnect one axle so the differential will free-wheel" type clutch).

That is alot of help. The reason I ask is I am kinda looking at a roto baler and need something that has live power. Would a WD or Wd-45 be a good choice?

The WD and WD-45 are just about custom made for the AC Rotobaler!! Could not ask for a better combination. We farmed many years with them and baled a lot of hay and straw. You must know one thing..(of many perhaps??) When you make your windrows make them double, that is heavy and wide. The rotobaler likes a full feed table of hay going in. Windrows too narrow will give you uneven bales, string tangles, all sorts of strange things. The WD will give you the power you need, no problem. The hand clutch is what you use. pull into the hay, load the baler, stop forward motion, but not the PTO, wait for her to kick the bale and move on. You kind of get a rythem to it and you can make a lot of darn good, weatherproof bales a day!!

the WD, and WD-45 are versatile, compact power-houses....the "45" is capable of pulling 4x14", and ours do, 2nd gear- even in "Black-Jack"...they just lift the front, and then steer with the brakes, even with all 4 tires loaded to the max.. and a railroad iron on the front...!! The hand clutch is a "wet clutch" ( runs in oil), so it can be used without wearing it out....
