D 14 voltage

I would like to know if the D 14 came from the factory with a 6 or 12 volt system. I am picking up a D 14 sight unseen and don't have any info on it. Also, it hasn't been run for 2 years, & sat out side with exhaust covered. Any suggestions before trying to start it?

D14's had 6v positive ground from the factory. That doesn't mean that some one hasn't already converted it to 12v. I would remove the plugs and squirt some oil into each cylinder before trying to start it. The gas line, carb, and gas tank may be gummed up or dirty from sitting. I would take some fresh gas and carb cleaner along. I would also check the oil level, make sure there is no water/coolant in it. This may indicate bigger problems. Good Luck!

grab the rear wheel and rock the tractor, see that the radiator fan moves so the engine is not stuck. Follow Gene, then stick in a spare battery and crank.
