36 WC . Drove it home from sale. Ran poorly. Sat outside for a couple of years. Stuck. Tore it down, wasn't stuck too bad. crank and cyl's mic'd out within tolerances( barely). New rings and bearings, head work ,new seats and guides and new valves as needed. Mag checked out professionally. Carb disassembled and cleaned with air, no soaking with carb cleaner. No new parts except gasket.Throttle shaft not real tight but have seen worse. Runs real uneven at all rpm's. Timing has been checked, valves are adjusted right. Changing carb adjustment doesn't seem to affect how it runs much at all. Carb is the only part that hasn't had much work. Could that be the problem? Could I benifit from a professional rebuild of the carb. If so ,who would you recommend. All thoughts and suggestions welcome . thanks

Doug, you may have a leak in the intake manifold, where it mates with the block. One of my WC's was running the same way, I found that one of the donut gaskets had failed. Good Luck Dee

Ditto here on the manifold leaks though mine ran fine cold, crappy warmed up. On mine the manifold would warp with heat & start to leak. New gaskets didn't fix it. Removed the manifold again & trued the manifold from end to end, put it back on using the new but now used gaskets & problem gone. Runs & idles fine hot or cold.

Good luck.
