Our frend wants to give us an old A.C. tractor I think its a WC. He's not sure what he has. Here's the engine ser. nu.W147558G and on the rear end I saw A1Z442. Also it has hand brakes and a wide front end that is not adjustable and the front axle has a arch in the middle.What is it? Thanks Mike.

Sounds like a WC, but could you discribe it a little more? Maybe someone will know from the numbers. Either way I would grab it, especially if it is free. Without a thought if the engine is free, (will turn)

The engine is free,it has a Be.Ge. hydro pump where the belt pulley goes. The drawbar hitch is torn off and the tinware is fair the owner said he had it running about a year ago. the owner is selling his place and he likes my son and I and he'd like to see us play with it,we may look into pulling it a little.Thanks Mike.

It sounds like a WF to me. The WF was based on the WC,but the final drive gears are forward of the axel, not straight down like on the WC. The WF is a very collectable tractor as there were only 1,900 nonstreamlined and 6,450 streamlined tactors made. With the final drives the way they are, the WF sits lower and has a shorter wheelbase than the WC. I think the clutch pedal on the WF is round also. Good luck. I think you may have found a neat little tractor.

The serial number indicates a 1945 WC with a gasoline engine. Styled WC's also had a non-adjustable wide front end with a small arch in the center. Still a nice tractor, just not as collectable as a WF.
