Well, first, Hi Everyone--
I'm new to your page 'cause I've got those green tractors instead of Persian Orange, but I hope you'll put up with me if I behave myself. My antique farm equipment club has been given a Allis-Chalmers 6-12. We got it for the taking literally, it was in a fencerow and the owner(who is not a club member) gave it to the club for taking it out of his way. Several of us who have books on Allis's found out just enough to get us really interested in the Allis. A couple of our members have Allis-Chalmers tractors for their principal tractor(s) but they aren't internet people so I committed to do some searching for info. Naturally the tractor isn't complete, but the heavy parts are there and the engine has been torn apart and it looks decent, and we understand that it is a common sort of engine(a Leroi 2-C) and parts might be had for it. The main wheels and frame with the drive gears and steering mechanism seem to be restorable. There is nothing of the operator sulky left however, and of course no hood or radiator.
So, I guess the bottom line here is, could anyone of you "Allis-Chalmers people" give us any advice or sources of help to steer us on this project.
For now, it's up to anyone out there to reply to this post I guess.

I would give Dale Haymaker; Paris, IL a call. He owns many of the great old Allis tractors and has restored many of them. He may be able to get you headed the right direction. John
