Jim, ik dont know exactly what setup you have, but your present pump must supply pressure thru a hose to your loader valve. The valve raises the boom. You may have "float" down system, or power down. Either way, you can change out your present single valve for a double valve. One spool for the lift, the other for the bucket. You can purchase valves thru Northern Hydraulics to do this generically or spend $$$ at AGCO. The new valve, dual spool can be purchased as power up and down, single acting (float down), and most can come with a detent so you dont have to hold the spool all the time. Again I dont have a D17 now, but hydraulics are hydraulics.
