Front pivot bolt on mod. B

Repairing the front pivot and the pivot bolt was welded to the "V" shaped plate that the bolt passas through. The weld was broke and looked like crap so I don't think it's factory. But that's my question, is the pivot bolt suppose to be welded or should it pivot with the arched frontend?

My B has the same problem.I plan on removing the plate that the bolt is welded to this spring and grinding away all of the old weld.I will then weld the bolt back in in at least 2 passes, the first with a 6010 rod for good penitration and at least one over the top with a 7018 rod.That ought to hold it.BTW,the factory job looks like a grape vine!

They was welded at the factory and Yup again on some of the welds lookin like crap from the factory. They need to be welded to keep the bolt from tipping or cocking and causing extra wear in the axle.
