C allis rear axle

Does anyone know if you can rotate the rear axles 45 degrees on a C allis? It looks like the bolt pattern will line up. I can work with the brakes ok but not sure how it would effect the rear lubricant? thanks in advance dan

Dan, we both made an error. You ment to say rotate 90 degrees. IN this position the final drive gear box will point straight forward. The sheetmetal cover which is now below the gear box, will be at the front. Again, i will send you photos.

yea, it will work. on the B model they called it a Industrial B. They never made the C that way from the factory, but it will work. Block it good, remove the 4 bolts and just rotate and reinstall. There is a seal on the axle shaft, and gear box input, but no gasket on the steel faces. Go to the tractor photos at the left of this page and punch in "Allis" then "IB" and you can see a couple. I will also e-mail you a couple of closeups. YOu need to lower the front axle height 6 inches also, make a straight axle.

hi,
in reply to steves add about how u will have to make a strait axel for an allis chalmers. What u can do it block the front end up, take the wishbone front end off and turn it upside down. Then you take apart the spindel housings and bearing, put them in backwards and on opposite sides of each other for the stearing capabilities. ive seen many like this, some of the dealers did that for the mines and for the mushroom farms.
