this is a great and new experience for me-i recently purchased a 1939 B #c1633. it has a hydraulic lift that appears to have been grafted on but i am not sure. Do i have a B or C??

Don, why do you think it is a B if the serial number is C1633? Look at the number by the transmission selector. Then look at the serial number list at the left of this page to get the year. Routinely you can figure a C has a narrow tricycle front end. All B models have a wide front end. The steering box (below the gas tank) will have the control arm sticking up on a C and straight down on a B. The back axle of a C is several inches wider than a B from hub to hub. Check out and post again on what you got. Either way, have fun with the new toy.

Thanks for the info Steve, I am at somewhat of a disadvantage at this time because the tractor is in Louisiana and I am in Calif. till 3-1-02, so I am not sure about the measurements. It does have the wide adjustable front end and I am pretty sure the steering arm turns down. It also has a hydraulic lift on the rear. What are you asking for yours? I gave 500.00 for mine.

You said it had a lift on the back? i assume you mean a hydraulic valve and small cylinder to raise the implement. You did good at $500. Standard price in the mid west is $700. if it has been repainted you can add a few hundred depending on the type of paint used. If it has good tires you can add a few hundred. If the engine was rebuilt you can add a few hundred. Around here "real nice tractors" might fetch $2000. Mine is actually a IB which is an industrial version. I just finished a total restore, not for sale, plan to save it for another 50 years. It sets lower to the ground do to modifications to the axles. I will send you a couple pictures. They made about 2500 of these and close to 120,000 of the farm version over the 20 year life.
