To all, I am very Sorry, however

I received this message from my brother in law regarding a computer virus I may have received from him. When I
checked my computer I did find it and got rid of it. It transfers to
everyone in your address book and lies dormant for 14 days, then kills your
hard drive. Even though you may not routinely receive mail from me you are
in my address book and you should follow the instructions below to check
for it and delete it as soon as possible. Duane Schutter AKA Duey(IA) at [email protected]
>1. go to start-then to 'find or search'
>2. in the 'search for files or folders' type in sulfnbk.exe this is the
>virus
>3. in the 'look in' make sure you're searching Drive C
>4. hit 'search' button (or find)
>5. if this file shows up (it's an ugly blackish icon that will have the
>name sulfnbk.exe) DON'T OPEN IT
>6. Right click on the file - go down to delete and left click
>7. It will ask if you want to send it to the recycle bin...say yes
>8. go to your desktop (where all your icons are) and double click on the
>recycle bin
>9. right click on sulfnbk.exe and delete again or just empty the recycle
>bin
>
>If you find this...send it to everyone in your address book, because that's
>how it's transferred.
Again, I am sorry for this and please delete this from your computer.

My apologies Duey, you are correct, it is a hoax. The trigger for me was the NBK, this message came to us via some friends in the banking industry (where NBK is a company), which set me to believe it. I don't feel bad as some of my best friends in the computer programming industry got suckered too.

The file creates a backup for long file names. It's not needed that badly but it can be restored from the Windows disc.

There is a virus being sent around that purports to restore this file. Please be careful of this "follow-up" message.

For more info try>Link

Boy,>Link I hope they find the originator of this and send him away.

D13,
Ya, I did that too. But,the warning WAS a HOAX. I reinstalled the file from my Windows installation disc. NOT much of a virus if it comes on the installation disc. Some %$@!@$%^#@*( little nerd just saw the ugly icon and started the HOAX for those of us like me, that are jumpy about viruses and don't know that much about the internal workings of these programs. We are the victims!!!

on another board that was a hoax message I received.
I got very excited that I may have given all of my friends a virus. Dang computer nerds that prey on us that are jumpy about viruses anyway. Would like to see ALL of em on a chain gang,. That would give em something constructive to do!!
Again sorry bout this.
