I was wondering if any of you have replaced your "aluminum or magnesium ?" oil pump pickups on your C engines I was cleaning up all my engine parts to see what needed fixing and the pickup seems to be crumbling and looks like it was safety wire wrapped at the last overhaul in 1974 to keep it together. I never had any problems with oil pressure but I dont want any either Ps. thanks for all the replies to my last post and to Dick L I think I am going to go with your suggestion and use the bearing cap shims rather than get the block align bored the bearings I pulled down seem to have worn pretty evenly the crank needs to be cut from water getting into the pan from its last ten years of sitting out in the weather before I liberated it from the fencerow. I have in the past used a reducing elbo and pipe nipple to build an oil pickup to hold the original screen. Roger VanCamp should have a used one.
