WD rear main questions

I am the new owner of a '52 WD Allis and the rear main is leaking oil like there's no tomorrow. I need to know if I can replace this (and the oil pan gasket) without splitting the tractor. I have the tools to replace the main, but do not have them to split the tractor. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Are you sure its the rear engine main that's leaking and not the front hydraulic reservoir seal? Both will leak into the engine clutch area. If you do pull the motor, be sure to replace both the engine seal and the hydraulic seal.

The rear main requires removal of the engine. It's a split seal, with half being in the rear main cap, and half being in a special seal holder thing bolted to the block. It's a lot of fun getting that stupid felt seal intot he slots, too. Sorry for the bad news, but taking the engine out isn't all that bad.

I replaced my oil pan gasket on my 49 WD this summer without spliting the tractor, however had to unbolt one side of the front motor support and turn it out of the way to make it easier. Rear seal I cannot help with sorry Jamie

My uncle had a WD and the dealer took the engine out to replace the rear oil seal. The seal held up well after the repair.
