can anybody tell me how to go about making a seat for my 48B. I only have the basic frame but no seat and wonder if any one has ever made a seat. Thought about making a tool box under the seat for the crank but would welcome any ideas

The original had a wood bottom piece with coil springs inside and a canvas cover. The original seats will last many years if the tractor is kept under cover.

Pete,
I took a 3/4 sheet of exterior grade plywood and cut it to fit the seat frame.
Then a 6 inch piece of foam and cut that to fit.
Cover the whole thing with black vinyl and you are fixed up.
Also, the crank has its own slot under the fuel tank just below the steering colum.
Thats what that little clip under the fuel tank is for.

Pete: A real easy&cheap way to make a seat is find a
school bus seat bottom. Take staples out of one
side, pull back covering measure and cut the plywood and foam to fit
your seat frame. They are a bit narrow than the
original. But if your not going for prefection just
cushion they work fine. Bob
