I need help to get loader to work properly. Will rise but not lower. Took the front piece out on the hold valve on top dont see a problem. Is the next step to take pump off tractor? Where is the release valve for it? Owners manual does not give me alot of help. I do have it set for the hold position. Thanks for any help. Jamie

Are you male and female couplers the same brand this will cause a problem for the oil flow,if your
lift arms work then its not in the hydraulic system.

Hi Jamie,
first let me warn you, i know nothing of WD loaders. will it lift a load? if piston seals are leaking badly, double acting cylinders will extend but not retract. if the bucket will lift with no load and not retract but will not lift with a fair load, i would suspect piston seals. anyway something you might consider if nothing else makes sence.

Jamie,
After you check out the hold position valve you may find that you have internal linkage or pump problems. Inside the pump there is a rack of sleeves and valves. There is also a spring washer, that after many moons of use, will disintergrate. Small pieces of this spring washer will lock up the sleeves and valves and can cause the type of problem you have described. You may not even find the pieces but you might have to carefully drive the stuck sleeves out of the valve body. When you reassemble this rack of valves, they should move freely in the bore and the valves should move freely inside the sleeves. You may have to use some very fine emery cloth in the bore.

A TIP when removing the hydraulic pump. = When the pump is free from the housing, tip it out enough to depress the cam followers and on the pivot end insert a slightly bent nail under the pivot pin and wedge the follower in the depressed position. Then rotate the pump upside down and it will just about fall out. Duey

Check knob "A" on the pump (lowest one on the side). If it has worked loose (or even fallen out) it will cause this problem if the linkage to the drawbar is missing. The plate should be rotated counter-clockwise (I think) as far as it will go and the knob screwed into a detent in the pump body, locking the plate down tight. Check that before you do anything else.

Jamie,
The hold position valve is located on top of the hydraulic pump, held in place by two small bolts. Behind the knurled adjustment screw are shims, o-ring seal, spring, valve ball, seat and the plunger. When the control lever is moved to the "lower" position on the quadrent, the cam inside the hold positioning valve pushes the plunger forward unseating the ball allowing the oil to return to the sump. When the control lever is moved up to the "hold" position, the plunger is retracted and the ball seats and "holds" the oil. If the ball does not seat well, the oil will seep past. Also if the "head" on the plunger is broken off,the plunger can't unseat the ball and no oil will flow back to the sump, causing any implement and the rear lift arms to stay in the raised position. I have a parts break down of the valve on my web page. Duey

Now I can not get it up. Went out to night to move tractor and of course started to go up. Pushed in clutch to stop it from rising while it warmed up a bit foot slipped off and tractor stalled restarted and now nothing when I even move the lever. My next step will be to take off the hold valve off the top of the pump. My question is there anything that I need to look out for? Thanks for the picture I have all them in my owners manual, but that only helps me to determine if I am missing parts and how to put back togeather. (I have same short term memory problem.) Them pictures donot help with trouble shooting for me. Other suggestions I donot have snap couplers everything hooked hose to hose and "A" knob OK
