Help! I need info. on 7040 powershift

Hi, I have a 7040 powershift,heckofa tractor.
But after you run it a while a warning light on the dash comes on. It says "trans press over 1800 rpms" it only does this when its throttled down below half way. it has done this for about 3 years (every since I bought it). I dont believe its anything serious or it would have quit by now, just curious about what causing it,and what it represents Thanks Bob

I agree with Aaron. I had an 8050 powershift and it was not uncommon for the light to come on below 1800, especially in warm weather. As the light implies, it guages tranmission oil pressure over 1800 rpms. I'd say your tractor is normal.

They are supposed to come on when you throttle back below 1800 RPM. If the light comes on above 1800 RPM, then you have trouble.

Have had the same thing happen with my 7000. Changed the hydraulic filter and the problem went away. If that has already been done, I'd be suspicious of the pressure sending unit. They are a great tractor aren't they. Good luck.
